When New York based duo Holy Ghost released their identically named album in 2011, we were blown away by its fresh fusion of pop and electronic sounds. Luckily, the band hasn’t deviated from said route, managing to give us another fine single in the form of It Gets Dark.
Prior to the release, Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel of synthpop duo Holy Ghost, launched a teaser video of It Gets Dark (see above), keeping their die hard fans waiting for nearly a whole month. Good to see it’s fully available now. It Gets Dark is structured around a pulsing drumbeat with an even more so pulsing bassline, alternating between the darker sounding verses and the cheerful and catchy chorus. The latter with Holy Ghost’s typical synth-driven sound, crossing bridges between the 80′s and the present. Available through DFA Records, and you should get it while it’s still hot.
